About The SOS4ALL Project

Natural disasters and pandemics like Covid-19 severely disrupt people’s lives by stripping them of their basic needs—such as food, shelter, security, and social stability—as outlined in Maslow’s hierarchy. Covid-19 in particular forced people to drastically change their routines, communication methods, and work lives, highlighting the need for effective crisis management. In such emergencies, public cooperation with official guidance becomes essential to ensure effective response. While social distancing was a key strategy during the pandemic, maintaining social connection remained vital (WHO). Efficient communication—especially with culturally and linguistically diverse groups such as migrants—is critical in managing emergencies effectively. Recognizing this, the SOS4ALL project aims to strengthen social cohesion and civic engagement between migrants and local communities, empowering young people as proactive, responsive agents during crises. Promoting inclusion and shared values such as diversity, equality, and non-discrimination is essential to building community resilience and mitigating the social impact of emergencies.

Civic engagement can be a powerful tool for maintaining interaction and inclusion among various groups in a local community, which is especially important during emergency situations because young people are the most dynamic members of communities, more willing to respond to new information and take the necessary precautions to mitigate the effects of emergency situations. Social inclusion is an important aspect of dealing with the effects of the emergency. It promotes common values as well as the concepts of diversity, equality, and non-discrimination among the majority and minority groups.
